Where is my plot? Database search
If you have lost your plot details for whatever reason, we are happy to help you find it for a small administrative fee. You can purchase a Database search here.To assist you further, you will need to provide our customer service support team with a bit more information to help us locate the order, as follows:- The email address the plot might have been purchased with (either yours or the purchaser’s).- An estimate of when the purchase was made (even a rough idea, such as how many years ago).-The delivery address the plot might have been sent to.- The name of the plot owner and additional details such as a middle name that may have been included in the original purchase.Once we receive this information, we'll do our best to locate your plot in our records. Please be aware that there are other companies offering similar products, and in some cases, we may be unable to find your plot in our system. While we can’t confirm which competitor you may have purchased from, we will be able to verify whether or not you own a plot with Highland Titles.

Do I need to legally register my plot or involve solicitors / lawyers?
No. You cannot register your plot, because it is such a small area; specifically it is defined as a “souvenir plot”.‘Souvenir’ plots of land have been sold in Scotland for over 30 years. The sale of these plots is governed by the Land Registration (Scotland) Act 1979, recently revised as the Land Registration etc. (Scotland) Act 2012. Please note that this act does not permit souvenir plots of land to be added to the Land Register. Read more about souvenir plots of Scotland.
What if I get married or change my name?
Simply request a reissue of documents, which you can request via our Customer Support Team. There is a small cost associated with this request. More information on changing your name is available from our Deed Poll page.
Can I have multiple plots next to each other?
Yes - so long as you are buying plots of the same size, simply add multiple plots to your basket and when you check out, all the plots will be 'neighbours'. Any plots ordered at a later date, will not be side by side, though they will usually be close by. Please note, we cannot move plots once you have bought them.
Can I buy a plot for someone else?
Yes. When you place your order you will need to fill in the details of the recipient. This can be any name that you like.
Can I visit my plot?
Yes, and we encourage you to do so. Our plots are now sold from our Kilnaish Estate, which is remote, but for the full visitor experience you’ll want to visit the Highland Titles Nature Reserve at Duror, near Glencoe. Here we have a Visitor Centre and Guided Tour service (booking essential). Please note that plots are no longer sold from Duror but this nature reserve showcases our story. How to visit Book a guided tour The physical location of each plot is not marked on the ground, and we would prefer to leave the land untouched, so if you do visit your plot on any of our reserves, please do not mark it once you have found it.
Can I plant a tree on my plot?
We are often asked by our customers if they can plant a tree on their own plot of land. We would love to be able to offer this service, but I'm afraid it simply isn't practical. Our plots we sell our Special Area of Conservation (SAC) and Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), so there are strict rules that must be followed. Our own tree planting work is planned well in advance for specific areas, using only trees that are native to the environment. We also cannot offer any kind of guarantee that your plot will have a tree planted on it. Sorry.
Can I camp on my plot?
I'm afraid we don't encourage camping on the land. Sadly, the rubbish and damage that some people leave behind has ruined the idea for everyone. We also don't have any of the facilities that modern campsites offer.
Can I choose the location of my plot?
Whilst we have various Nature Reserves, we are currently only selling plots at our Kilnaish Nature Reserve: https://www.highlandtitles.com/the-land/kilnaish-estateUpon purchase, the plots are automatically assigned by our system and therefore you are unable to choose the exact plot you will be allocated. If you are a couple and wish to have two plots next to each other with a joint certificate, you can do this by purchasing a couples plot package. If you wish to have plots next to each other but single certificates, please make sure you buy plots at the same time by adding the multiple orders to your checkout basket and making payment for them all at once. This is the only way we can make sure they are side by side.
Can I upgrade my plot to a bigger one?
There is no way to upgrade your plot to a bigger size, but if you want a bigger plot of land you can buy one from our website.
Do you actually own the land?
‘Souvenir’ plots of land have been sold in Scotland for over 40 years. The sale of these plots is governed by the Land Registration (Scotland) Act 1979, recently revised as the Land Registration etc. (Scotland) Act 2012. Our customers obtain a personal right of ownership to a souvenir plot of land. This is a genuine legal right of ownership, meaning we cannot sell the same plot twice. However, we remain as the registered landowner and we manage the land on behalf of our customers.
